John Thomas Long, Jr., 86, of Elizabeth City, NC, passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2022, in his home.
Mr. Long was born in Pasquotank County on March 5, 1936, and was the son of the late John Thomas, Sr., and Sarah Marie Frue Long.
He was a US Army veteran.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Nancy Craft Long; his daughter, Karen Long Szczepanski (husband, Bob) of Shawboro; two grandchildren, Kaitlynn Peterson (husband, Brad) and Joshua Szczepanski; a great-grandson, Cooper Peterson; and his cousin who was like a brother to him, Ronnie Long (wife, Frances).
A graveside service with military honors will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. in West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Elizabeth City. Friends may visit with the family at the graveside immediately following the service. Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral and Cremation Providers, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, is assisting the family with arrangements.
