Robert Walker, age 90, of Colton, SD died Saturday, July 9, 2022, at Avantara Nursing Home in Sioux Falls, SD.

Bob's funeral service was at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 15, 2022 at First Lutheran Church in Colton, SD. Burial followed at Graceland Cemetery in Madison, SD.

Visitation was on Thursday, July 14th from 5 – 7 PM at Minnehaha Funeral Home in Baltic, SD.

In lieu of flowers, family wish memorials which will be directed to the SD Game Fish and Parks Habitat and the First Lutheran Church of Colton.

Robert Leon Walker was born June 9, 1932, in Ottumwa, IA to parents John and Esther (Sutton) Walker. He grew up in Sioux Falls, SD where he met his wife, Janice Jurgens. They were married February 14, 1958, at the Hamlin Reformed Church in Castlewood, SD. After their marriage they lived in Sioux Falls until moving to Colton, SD in 1965. As a young man he worked many trades including a grocery store, road construction, digging graves, brick and carpentry work. His occupation as he and Janice raised their family was a butcher at John Morrell, where he later retired. Bob and Jan then hit the craft show circuit as Walker's Wood for several years. Robert enjoyed family, hunting, fishing, and gardening. In late summer he often answered the phone, "Walker's Tomato Farm".

Grateful for having shared his life are his children, Dawn (Ken) Lydic of Sioux Falls, SD, Mark (Shelly) Walker of Omaha, NE, twins, Adam (Sindle) Walker of Sioux Falls, SD, and Alan (Jennifer) Walker of Brandon, SD. Mr. Walker is also survived by daughter, Debra Grodin from a previous marriage. In addition, his survivors include 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Louise Bakke of Kenosha, WI and Marilyn Wiese of Sioux Falls, SD.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 61 years, Janice; one brother (Ralph Walker); and three sisters (Marie Coble, Mildred Clark, and Dorothy Van der Meer.
