Noel Allen Houk, 83, of Newark, passed away on July 8,2022 at OSU James Wexner Center, Columbus.
Noel was born on September 23, 1938, in Galion, Ohio to the late Ray and Ila Odd (Bigler) Houk. Upon graduation from Iberia High School in 1956, Noel proudly joined the United States Marines where he served our country until 1959.
Noel and his significant other, Mary C. Sims, attended Fellowship Baptist in Columbus together. He was a member of the American Legion, Scarborough Post, 243 of Galion. In his spare time, Noel enjoyed playing cards and was especially good at euchre. Taking walks with his dog, Molly was relaxing, and he enjoyed the company of his cats. Noel had a "sweet tooth" for candy and other sweets. His favorite was Snickers and Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. Most of all, spending time with family and friends, gave Noel great joy and laughter.
Noel is survived by his first wife and mother of his children: Joan (Eidt) Houk and his significant other, Mary C. Sims; his son Rex (Coquette Sutton) Houk, Marysville, stepdaughters; Donna (John) Cook, Kim (Joe) Stephens, Torri Nelson, Shelly Kingery, Christina Penix, five grandchildren; Barbie (Jarred Burns) Decker, Jessica (Tim) Noyes, Greg (Misty) Decker, Jordyn Houk and Rick (Merry Ann) Miller as well as numerous great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Noel was preceded in death by his daughters; Beth Miller and Ila Fontaine, nine siblings; Iona Houk, Derald Houk, Donald Houk, Lois Houk, Kay Vanerkooi, Mary Barker, Faith Houk, Vera Baker, and Dana Houk.
