Born in Brevard, North Carolina on October 11, 1925, he was the son of Huey Canaro Aiken and Daisy Snelson Aiken.
Carey opened and built Aiken's Supermarket on Highway 25 in Skyland, which was the first supermarket of that type in the Skyland/Arden area for many years. After his retirement he entered into sales and worked with Electrolux for several years, which kept him in touch with many people.
Carey belonged to the Masonic Lodge in Hendersonville.
He was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving during WW II.
He was a member of Pole Creek Baptist Church in Candler.
A memorial service will be held at the Western Carolina State Veteran's Cemetery chapel. Military honors will be conducted by the Buncombe County Veteran's Council Memorial Team.
