Charles Lemuel Cave,

Charles Lemuel Cave, 77, of Stanley, died on Wednesday Jan. 16, 2008, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.

He was born on Jan. 27, 1930, in Luray and was a son of the late Cletus Andrew and Alice Elizabeth Payne Cave.

Mr. Cave was an Army veteran of the Korean War and received the Purple Heart. He retired after 18 years with the Department of Transportation, District of Columbia in September 1980, and also retired from Avtex in Front Royal.

He is survived by four daughters, Brenda A. Cave of McLean, Teresa C. Cave of Stanley, Monica L. Jenkins of Elkton, and Cheryl E. Fitzgerald of Waynesboro; two sisters, Elna Harling and Marlene Bell, both of Luray; a companion, Sylvia A. Davis of Stanley; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Arthur Cletus "Buck" Cave; two sisters, Virginia Carson and Joyce K. Cave; and previous wife, Virginia M. Cave.

A funeral service was conducted on Saturday, Jan. 19, at the Mount Zion Church of the Brethren by Pastor Thomas N. Robinson. Burial was in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Luray with military honors by the VFW Post 621.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Page Dialysis Center or to the Ida Grove Gospel Church.
