DURHAM NH - Shirley D Creighton 81 of 38 Madbury Rd, a former resident of Piermont, died yesterday at the Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover. She was born June 14, 1910 in Moretown, Vt., the daughter of Earl F and Florence (Blay) Densmore. She was a graduate of Hartford (Vt) High School and had lived in Exeter and Piermont before moving to Durham about 10 years ago.
She was a bookkeeper and sales clerk at Woolworth's and at the Western Auto Store in Lebanon.
Mrs. Creighton was an active member of the Eastern Star and the New Hampshire Grange, a member of the Durham Women's Club and the Silver Squares of Durham, and an active member of the Community Church of Durham. She was also an avid walker.
The widow of Arthur F Creighton Sr, who died in 1980, she is survived by a son, Arthur F Jr of Stratham, N.H.; four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, including a niece raised by Mrs Creighton, Shirley Cobb of Sommersworth.
Calling hours are : this evening from 7 to 9 at the Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Are Dover.
A funeral service will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 at the Community Church of Durham.
Burial will be later in the spring in the family lot at Gleason Cemetery in Meriden, where Mr. Creighton had been a groundskeeper.
