S.L. Man Dies Following Fall
Alfred Johnston Peterson, 43, 1430 California Ave., active Church worker, died Monday in a local hospital following injuries he received Saturday in a fall at his residence.
Mr. Peterson had been pruning trees when he fell from a ladder and struck his head on cement.
He was born March 17, 1914, in Paris, Idaho, a son of Charles Alfred and Mary Delta Johnston Peterson. On July 5, 1941, he married Elda Rae Atkinson in Bennington, Idaho. The marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He had lived all his married life in Salt Lake City.
An employe of the Petty Motor Co. in Sugar House. Mr. Peterson had been a member of the U.S. Army in the Pacific during World War II.
Mr. Peterson was a member of the Cannon Stake High Council, served as a counselor in the Cannon Second Ward bishopric, was superintendent of YMMIA, served a stake mission, and was Cannon Stake sports director.
Survivors are his widow; a daughter, Vicki Lynn; parents, St. Charles, Idaho; five brothers and a sister; Weldon, Montpelier, Idaho; Loren, Brigham City; Edward, Port Orchard, Wash.; Don, Grace, Idaho; Vernon, Vernal; Mrs. Weyn (Leona) Bird, Paris, Idaho.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 12 noon, at Cannon Second Ward chapel, 1172 Glendale Dr., Bishop Richard C. Forsyth officiating. Friends may call at 4330 S. Redwood Rd., Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday at ward chapel, one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Salt Lake City cemetery.
