A native of of Macon County, he was a son of the late Harley T. and Lelia Johnson Shuler and was also preceded in death by a son, Martin Lewis Shuler, who died in 1967. A US Army veteran of WWII serving in Okinawa, Mr. Shuler was a self-employed trucker and a member of New Morgan Hill Baptist Church where he was a deacon.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Blanche Lance Shuler; a sister, Grace Matthews of Candler; two brothers, James Elmer Shuler of Candler and Leonard G. Shuler of Asheville.
Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
