James Leroy Richards, Sr., 66, died early Wednesday morning, June 29, 2022, at his residence.
Born on May 12, 1956, in Altoona, a son of Joan Murphy and the late James Phillip Richards.
Surviving are three children: James Leroy Richards, Jr., Janene Christine Reynolds, and Ian Luke Richards; five grandchildren: Ayden, Anabelle, Hayleigh, Mason, and Luke; a brother, Robert Richards; and his stepmom, Judy Richards.
James was a father figure to many including Ashley and Jordan Ankney, and every child coached at East End Baseball field, among other baseball fields.
James was a 1974 graduate of Altoona Area High School. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and volunteering at Blair Bedford Dirt Drags, where he would work the gate and announce the races.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 4:30 p.m., Saturday, July 23, 2022, at Second Avenue United Methodist Church, 415 East Crawford Avenue, Altoona, PA 16602, Pastor Brian Sandell officiating.
