Bob passed away on July 6th, 2022 surrounded by his family. He was born on December 13th, 1932 in American Fork, Utah, the oldest of 5 children to John Franklin and Ina Louise Spencer Abel. He grew up on a farm and also worked on his uncles' farm in American Fork. He graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor's degree in Accounting. He mainly worked as an accountant / controller in the automotive industry. He was loving husband and father. He loved to fish and camp with his kids. He and mom attended every sporting event in which the kids participated. He was an avid reader and has quite a large library of books. He enjoyed going to the theatre, spending time in his garden, and canning his harvest. Bob and Elaine loved to travel together going on many trips domestic and abroad. He served in many capacities in the LDS Church.
He is survived by his children, Kris Keys, Brad (Barbara), Jeff (Holly), David (Cj) and Jason (Linda); 15 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren; brother Don (JoAnne); sister Jeryl (Glen). He was preceded in death by his beautiful wife Elaine; his parents; sister Ina Faye (Dennis), brother Vertis; son Stephen; and son-in-law Wayne.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 8, 2022, 2:00 p.m. at the Penney Cove Ward LDS chapel located at 601 E Mansfield Avenue, South Salt Lake. Viewing will be held from 1:00 pm to 1:45 pm prior to the services.
