During the 1930s he worked as an announcer on various radio stations. In 1946, he debuted as an actor in the film "Hitler soy yo." He also participated in radionovelas such as "Los siete escalones" (1948). In cinema, Barral directed two feature films "De espaldas" (1956), and "Con el deseo en los dedos" (1958). In television, he directed the telenovela "La gaviota" (1969) and served as writer in "En Occidente nace el Sol" (1984).
