Ethel Inez Knicley, 86, of Bridgewater, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2008, at Bridgewater Home where she had been a patient for two years. She lived in Dayton most of her life.
She was born in Rockingham Co. on Feb. 22, 1921, and was a daughter of the late Cameron A. and Annie Jane (Howdyshell) Grogg.
She was a homemaker. Mrs. Knicley was a member of Spring Creek Church of the Nazarene. She was active in various church activities, including the choir.
She was united in marriage in 1938 to Eldridge Leroy Knicley, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Knicley is survived by two sons, Bruce E. Knicley and his wife, Betty, of Bridgewater, Dennis L. Knicley and his wife, Brenda, of Dayton. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; 11great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Myrl Curry, Zelma "Pete" Knicley, Maxine Tusing, and Wanda Reedy; five brothers, Garth, Cecil Gale "Jack", Cloise, Osie Wyatt, and Robert Grogg. She is the last member of her immediate family.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, 2008, at the Johnson funeral Service in Bridgewater with the Revs. Tony Martin, Richard Vaught, and W.L. "Sonny" Henkel officiating. Private entombment in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens Harrisonburg, Va.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Service, Bridgewater.
