MANSON - Alice L. Baker, 76, a longtime resident of Manson, died Tuesday, May 10, 1994, at her home following a brief illness.
She was born Dec. 23, 1917, to Charles and Grace (Colby) Walker at Prospect, Ore. She spent her early years at Eagle Point, Ore., where she attended school and graduated from high school.
After high school she worked for Harry and David's Gift of the Month Company as a mailing clerk and their first employee.
She married Ray Baker on July 29, 1941, at Long Beach, Calif. They lived in Wilmington, Calif., until 1944, when they moved to Manson. They owned and operated an orchard, and Mrs. Baker worked seasonally packing their apples.
She was a member of the North Shore Bible Church, the North Central Washington Quilters' Guild, the Chelan Valley Undercover Quilters and the Lake Chelan Sportsman Council.
She is survived by her husband, of the home; four sons, Arnold of Manson, John of Wenatchee, Roger of Upland, Calif., and Jim of Bellingham; a daughter, Pam Morrical of Reno, Nev.; seven grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by a brother. Arrangements are by Precht Rose Chapel, Chelan.
