MARION - Mrs. Ruby May Altman Shelley, 91, widow of Frank Leslie Shelley, of Marion, entered the Kingdom of Heaven on the morning of Thursday, June 23, 2022, at her residence, with her family by her side after an extended decline in health.
Ruby, a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, was born in Horry County, South Carolina, on April 5, 1931, a daughter to the late Ray Altman and the late Sally Grainger Altman. Rub, in addition to being a homemaker, spent years employed as a store manager for a while and had also worked in textiles for a time. In her spare time Mrs. Shelley loved working in her yard, especially in her flower beds. Her family said she enjoyed fishing as well, never turning down an opportunity to go with friends or family to cast a line and wait for the bobber to get a good tug. Mrs. Shelley was a member of Reedy Creek Baptist Church.
Surviving Mrs. Shelley are two sons, Timothy Leslie Shelley of Mullins and William Craig Shelley (Becky) of Atlanta, GA; 3 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Shelley was preceded in death by a brother, Earl Altman; and three sisters, Jewell Brown, Ilene Nobles, and Beulah Hammonds.
A memorial service for Mrs. Shelley will be held in the Chapel of Cox-Collins Funeral Home, on Sunday, June 26 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. John Rogers officiating.
