Marion was born the s/o Joel and Sarah Jane Schooler Hammons. His mother had 3 children. Two died in infancy. His mother also died when he was very young.
He was a first cousin to my grandfather and a first cousin once removed to my grandmother.
He married first to Nora Taylor on June 5, 1900 in Lebanon, KS. and second to Florence Batterson in the 1960's in CA. There were no children from either marriage.
Cousin Marion was a dear old man and was very loved by our family. He use to come to our house in Paradise , CA. Sometimes we took two cars down the old stagecoach route to Chico called 'Honey Run'. It was very narrow and twisting. Cousin Marion could hardly see over the steering wheel. You looked out the car's side window and straight down into the canyon below. I use to beg my grandmother not to make me ride with him. Even at the age of 6, I was smart enough to know my life was in danger.
