Vera was born on October 27, 1944, in Springfield, the daughter of Gelder and Elizabeth Shearburn. She had four sisters, Betty, Doris, Helen, and Linda, and two brothers, Sonny, and Donn. Vera married Wilburt "Bud" Baker on July 4, 1958, in Auburn by the Justice of Peace. They had five children, Debbie (husband, Tony) Stone, Raymond (wife, Pattie) Baker, Wayne Baker, Richard Baker, and Denise (husband, Bill) Talbert. She helped raise three grandchildren, Michelle Bold, Amanda Stone, and Brenda Stone. Vera has many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Vera worked outside of her home for a few years at Saputo's, however, most of her years she spent as a stay-at-home mom and wife. She is best known for her cooking and baking, especially her delicious homemade pies. Vera was an introverted person unless you came to her house. She loved to have people over to cook and bake for and she could talk for hours. Vera was a Jehovah's Witness and a member of the Kingdom Hall in Auburn for most of her life. She loved Jehovah and knew the promise of a resurrection. Vera was loved by many and will be missed dearly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bud; her parents; sisters, Helen, and Betty; and brother, Donn.
Cremation was provided by Lincoln Land Cremation Society.
