Josephine Ellen Unzicker, 86, of 8804 W. Smithville Road, Mapleton, formerly of Metamora, died Sunday, April 23, 2000, at her residence.

Born Jan. 17, 1914, in Shelbyville to David and Lena Eigsti Ulrich, she married Earl Unzicker on March 6, 1934, in Roanoke. He died Aug. 11, 1995, in Peoria.

She also was preceded in death by an infant daughter, three brothers and one sister.

Surviving are two sons, Kenneth (and Barbara) of Normal and Carl (and Arletta) of Calhan, Colo.; two daughters, Mrs. Clarence (Carol Fethier) Prill of Mapleton and Sharon Visser of Wickenburg, Ariz.; two brothers, Chris (and Lola) Ulrich and Lester (and Betty) Ulrich, both of Washburn; and two sisters, Pearl Schrock of Freeport and Ada (and Ben) Nofsinger of Washington.

She worked as a cook for Maple Lawn Homes in Eureka for 13 years before retiring.

She was a volunteer for the Peoria Christian Center, the Mennonite Historic Museum and the Mennonite Relief Sale.

She was a member of Metamora Mennonite Church and its Women's Sewing Circle.

A private family graveside service will be at Roanoke Mennonite Cemetery in Roanoke.
