David Royal Wells was born on June 15, 1934 in Dent County, Missouri to Goldie Lee and Leah Scott (Quinley) Wells. The family moved to Colorado to find work during the depression era. David graduated from high school in Denver, Colorado before moving back to Salem and making Salem his hometown.

David was united in marriage on July 25, 1955 to the love of his life, Frances Mae Parsons. He was a sweet gentleman and loving husband to Frances for just shy of sixty-seven years. David and Frances were blessed with two sons, Bob and Steve.

David enlisted into the United States Army National Guard September 19, 1955 and served his country faithfully until his honorable discharge October 31, 1962.

David had a strong work ethic and worked hard to provide for his family. He was an electrician by trade and owned and operated Wells Electric and Turtle Technical Services (TTS). David no doubt was a kind man who served his community with deep humility.

David loved to work with his hands, he enjoyed restoring old cars and inventing things. David always succeeded in whatever you put in front of him. He was a steadfast family man and successful entrepreneur.

Throughout his life, family, faith, and helping others was most important to him. David cherished his grandchildren and treasured the time spent with them and making memories with his great-grandchildren.

David departed this life on June 20, 2022, in Salem, Missouri at the age of eighty-eight years. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife Frances Wells of Salem, MO; sons: Bob Wells and wife Babette of Salem, MO and Steve Wells and wife Edie of Salem, MO; grandchildren: Jennifer Bass and husband Jason of Salem, MO, Jessica Sullivan and husband Michael of Salem, MO, Paul Wells and wife Terra of Licking, MO, James Wells and wife Megan of Salem, MO; great-grandchildren: Addi, Ella, Jasper, Hallie, Lyman, Harper, Silas, Colton, Elsie, Matthew, Judson, and William; brother: Charles Wells and wife Tammy; sister: Dorothy Bock; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.

Preceding him in death, parents: Goldie and Leah Wells; and brothers: Donald, Dale, and James Wells.

David touch the lives of many with his love, generosity, contagious smile, and passion for life. His memory will live on in those who loved him most.

Funeral Services for David Royal Wells were held Friday, June 24, 2022 in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Noah Schlag officiating. Song selections played were "How Great Thou Art" and "Amazing Grace". Serving as Pallbearers were Jason Bass, Michael Sullivan, Paul Wells, and James Wells. Burial was in the Miner Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri.
