Marlow: Clema Blundell Wood, 98, passed away Tuesday, October 5, 2021 in Marlow.
Clema Blundell Wood was born Sunday, September 30, 1923 in Foster, OK, to Alford Van and Emma (Kay) Blundell. The last surviving child of AV and Emma, Clema passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 5th at the age of 98 years and 5 days.
Clema was the proud mom of Roy Lee and James Black and never missed a football or basketball game; even after working all day at Reynolds Grocery Store. Clema and JC Sullivan owned Sullivan's Grocery Store where they hired many of her nephews to work. Later after selling the grocery store, Clema managed Hop N Sack, worked for Larry Martin at Martin's Grocery Store, and retired at the age of 88 from Marlow Food Grocery Store. Clema enjoyed spending time with her family, dancing at the senior citizens, working, and shopping. Clema was always busy and looked forward to going (anywhere). Her later years you could find her enjoying time with friends while dancing at the senior citizens center 2-3 nights a week. Even when she couldn't dance, she enjoyed the time at the center visiting. Clema will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Survivors include son, Roy Lee Black and wife Ina of Marlow; daughter-in-law, Sissy Black of Marlow; 6 grandchildren, LeAnn Black, Julie Sanders, Lee Black, Staci Hinshaw, Penny Traber, and Tricia Barnes; 10 great-grandchildren, DeAnna Hamn, Mike Hamn, Scott Hamn, Tyler Richey, Derek Black, M'Kenzie Cummings, Macy Traber, Davis Black, Parker Sanders, and Kyle Traber; 14 great-great-grandchildren, Derian, Naomi, Alyssa, Rylee, Dane, Tristen, Lucas, Wade, Griffin, Kaleb, Ellie, Karsyn, Baker, Baylor, and Leon; niece, Patsy McAdoo and nephews, Kenny Wood, Steve Blundell, Jimmy Blundell, and Ricky Blundell.
In addition to her 2 husbands, Donnie Wood and JC Sullivan, Clema was preceded in death by her son, James Black, her parents, grandson, Greg Black, and 8 siblings, Van Blundell Jr., Miles Blundell, Corky Blundell, Blanche Couch, Wanda Robinett, Dessie Unsell, Vivian Woods, and Wynona Woods, and her special friend, Pete Smart.
