On June 17, 1966, he was a passenger in a Lockheed Hercules Transport (C-130E) enroute from Cam Ron Bay, South Vietnam to Kadena Air Base, Okinawa. About 43 miles northeast of Nha Trang the aircraft exploded and crashed into the South China Sea.
His remains were never recovered.
His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
