Myrtle Eleanor Annie Lovaas was born on March 24, 1898 on a farm near Kerkhoven, MN, a daughter of Peter and Gustava Leaf. She grew up near Kerkhoven and attended schools there. She was united in marriage to Christian Lovaas at her parent's farm on May 27, 1922. After their marriage they moved to Toronto, SD where they lived for a few years before moving to Gary.

Myrtle was a member of the Gary United Methodist Church, and of the United Methodist Women, the American Legion Auxiliary, the Rural Mail Carrier's Auxiliary and the Gary Senior Citizens group.

She is survived by two sons, Allan and Richard and one daughter, Ruth, Mrs Ordean Nelson.

Funeral services were held at the United Methodist Church in Gary.
