Funeral services for Lloyd C. Bartness, age 93, of Hartland, will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 8, at the Cross of Glory Lutheran Church. The Rev. Dennis Frank will officiate. Interment will be in the Hartland Cemetery. Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services at the church.
Lloyd died Thursday, Oct. 5, 2006, at the Albert Lea Good Samaritan Center.
Lloyd C. Bartness was born June 20, 1913, to Oscar and Emma (Bakken) Bartness in Hartland. He attended District 32, Hartland Public School, and the Albert Lea Academy. Lloyd was married to Joan Sophia Amley at the LeSueur River Lutheran Church. She preceded him in death in April 1971.
Lloyd was a member of the Cross of Glory Lutheran Church, the Cross of Glory Cemetery Board, the Hartland Elevator Board, and the Hartland Creamery Board. He was also a charter member of the combined Hartland Cemetery Board.
Lloyd was a farmer and had lived in the Hartland area all of his life, the last 2 1/2 years with Robert and Judy Sibilrud before falling and fracturing his hip and moving to Good Samaritan. Lloyd enjoyed photography, making movies of anything and everything in and around Freeborn County, owning and flying his own planes, and attending the county and state fairs.
Survivors include his sons, Rick Bartness and Ronnie and wife, Donna Bartness; daughter Judy and husband, Robert Sibilrud; grandchildren: Thomas Bartness, Timothy Bartness, Amanda Bartness, Brianna Bartness, Heidi Johnson, and Hillary Johnson; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Harold and wife, Jean Amley, Bonnie Cooper, Gene Amley, and Leslie and wife, Yvonne Christensen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Joan.
