Ms. Betty Couthen Wesley was born to Samuel and Louise Couthen in Winston-Salem, NC. On December 25, 2021, she passed away at the age of 84.
After she graduated from Carver High School, she attended La Mae Beauty School and received her Cosmetology Degree. Betty furthered her education at Winston-Salem State University and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. She retired from Novant Health with 44 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Louise Couthen; two brothers, Raymond L. Couthen and Frederick W. Couthen.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her sons, Lorenzo Wesley, Jr., Frederick Wesley, Darryl Wesley, and Michael Wesley; and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; a brother Samuel (Jean) Couthen, Jr.; and sister, Shirley Couthen Williams; dedicated niece, Kathy Smith; several nieces and nephews; special "goddaughters", Vivian Kirkpatrick and Roshell Martin.
Ms. Couthen may be publicly viewed Sunday, January 2, 2022 from 1:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at Clark S. Brown & Sons Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Monday, January 3, 2022 at 11:30 A.M. at Piney Grove Baptist Church, 4715 Indiana Avenue, Winston-Salem, NC
