He was born April 19, 1918, at rural Pittsburg, to Thomas Harrison and Martha Buffington Sells. He attended local schools and was a lifelong resident of Pittsburg.
On Nov. 29, 1939, he married Gretchen Davidson at Girard. In 1943, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the 127 Combat Engineers. After being honorably discharged in 1946, he worked as a farmer. He also worked as an auto mechanic for 15 years, at A1 Tool for five years and at List and Clark for 9 1/2 years before retiring in November of 1978.
Mr. Sells was a member of AARP and Senior Citizens. He was a past member of the American Legion at Miami, Okla.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a son, Tom Sells of Pittsburg; and a sister, Cindy Hudson of Pittsburg. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, 522 S. Broadway, Pittsburg, with Minister Steve Cole officiating. Burial will follow at Crocker Cemetery.
