William H. "Bill" Bird, 82 of West Frankfort, passed away on June 9, 2022 at 8:49 P.M. at the Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.
He was born June 13, 1939 in Galatia, Illinois to Rodney Owen Bird and Ether ( Grey ) Bird

He is survived by his wife Sue of West Frankfort, two sons, Bobby (Tina) and Billy, by 3 step sons, Wendell, Larry ( Diane ) and Darrel and by grandchildren, and by great grandchildren, and by several step grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He is also survived by a brother, Harold (Judy) and by two sisters, Louise and Alice (Paul). In addition, a sister-in-law, Sandy, by two special friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Rose Mary Bird in 2012 and by 3 brothers, James, Wayne and Leroy Bird.

Bill was a member of the Second Baptist Church in West Frankfort and was a mason.

He spent much of his life as a farmer and 23 years as a coal miner. He was a member of the UMWA. He also served in the United States Army

Services will be held on Friday, June 17, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at the Parker-Reedy Funeral Home in West Frankfort.
Inurement will be in the Ebenezer Cemetery near Thompsonville. Visitation will be after 10 :00 A.M. on Friday at the funeral home.
