Paul E. Turney, 78, of LaFollette, died Friday night at St. Mary's Hospital in Knoxville. He was a member of the LaFollette First Baptist Church, LaFollette Lodge No. 623 F & AM, LaFollette Chapter 212, Coeur De. Lion Commandry No. 9, LaFollette Council 75, Kabella Temple, Colonel of the State of Tennessee, LaFollette Planning Comm., past member of LaFollette Lions Club, LaFollette Kiwanis Club, and LaFollette Community Hospital Board. He was owner and operator of the LaFollette Tourist Court for 30 years.
Survivors include his wife, Inez Hall Turney of LaFollette; son, Harold Turney of Knoxville; grandsons, Richard Turney of Levelland, Texas, and Eddie Turney of San Francisco; brother, Robert Turney of Cookeville, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were 8 p.m. Sunday night at LaFollette First Baptist Church with the Rev. Harland Reynolds and the Rev. Paul Haney officiating. Interment was in DeKalb County Memorial Gardens with graveside services at 12 noon Monday in Smithville, TN.
Pallbearers were Herbert Childress, Jim Lane, Bill Hendon, Charley Ford, John Claiborne, Charles Davis, Larry Mangum, Mike Nelson, Charles Arant, and Bill McFadden.
Cross Funeral Home, Inc., LaFollette, was in charge of arrangements.
