Carolyn Jean Lewis, 78, of Gastonia passed away June 2, 2021 at the Robin Johnson House in Dallas. She was born on April 30, 1943 to the late Dwight and Esther Holt Allen. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Albert Stanley Lewis; son, Tony Lewis; daughters, Debbie Hansard, Rhonda Lewis, and Michelle Leatherman; and brothers and sisters, Doyle, William, Janette, Paul, Ronnie, and Steve. Carolyn was born and raised in Sevierville, TN and loved the mountains. She was a member of Union Road Presbyterian Church. She loved playing bingo, was a member of the Red Hat Ladies Club, and a Dolly Parton fan. Carolyn was a very humble person who loved her family, especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include her son, Dwight "D.J." Lewis and wife Ronda; brother, Joe Mayfield and wife Tammy of Sevierville, TN; 16 grandchildren including Dustin Leatherman, Jacob Leatherman, and Brandon Wiggins that she mothered and raised; and 10 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 9, 2021, 5:00 P.M., at Benson Funeral & Cremation Services of Mount Holly with Rev. Jerry Pennington officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 - 5:00 P.M. prior to the service.
