Marge almost made it to 100- and is relieved that she didn't. She likely is dismayed however that everyone knows her true age.

In Marge's words: "I come from want ads, bread lines, the WPS and FDR; from the CCC, and NRA, and the second World War."

Marge was born in SLC to Louisa Wells and George A. Luke. The family moved to NYC where Marge spent the first 20 years of her life alongside her brothers Blair and Johnny. After attending Queens College for 2 years, she moved to Utah to attend BYU. Her future husband, John (Jack) Heck, whom she dated while in New York, went off to build radio stations in the jungles of South America during WWII. They reunited after a couple of years and married in SLC. Jack whisked Marge off to Santiago, Chile where he now had a job with Panagra airlines. About a year later he was transferred to Lima, Peru where they lived for the next 17 years.

Janelle, Kenneth, and Douglas, her three children, all grew up in Lima. Marge thought life in Peru was grand. She acted in several plays with the Lima Theater Workshop. She worked as the Secretary for the American Society of Peru and the Boys and Girls Scouts. She also taught English to groups of Peruvians and learned to speak Spanish almost fluently. Favorite activities included going to the beach, playing bridge, book clubs, and socializing with friends.

After spending almost 20 years in South America, Jack was transferred by the airline (now Braniff) to Miami, Florida. Just two years later he was transferred again to Dallas, Texas where they remained for 40 years. Marge worked at her "dream job" as Executive Secretary/Office Manager for Arthur Young and Co. She loved playing duplicate bridge; being a docent at the Museum of Spanish Art on the SMU campus; and presenting book reviews. She was passionate about opera, literature, chocolate, poetry writing and performing.

During retirement Jack and Marge were fortunate to be able to travel to many countries together, with friends, and with family. Following Jack's death, Marge continued to travel with Janelle and Kay. After her move to SLC, she was absolutely delighted to enjoy time with her grandson David's (Heidi) family and to watch her three great grandsons grow up. Her grandson Jonathan (Kim) and daughter-in-law Henrietta made many trips to SLC where Marge was also able to delight in the Texas family and her four great grandchildren.

Marge moved to Parklane Senior Living in SLC about 17 years ago. She loved the friends she made there and loved the activities that Matt arranged. A few years ago, Marge moved to Spring Gardens Holladay where she was fortunate to have the kindest, most precious caregivers. With support from the amazing staff at Bristol Hospice, (Caitlyn, Heather, Alan, Valerie and others) she was well cared for.

Marge was preceded in death by her son Douglas, age 29; her son Kenneth, age 48; and her husband Jack. She is survived by her daughter Janelle (Kay); her daughter in law, Henrietta; her grandsons Jonathan (Kim) and David (Heidi); and seven fabulous great grandchildren.

A private family gathering to honor Marge will be held.
