He was the son of Henry and Maria Schwizer Goede. On May 22, 1878, he married Martha Buggs in the parsonage of St. Paul's Lutheran Church April 19, 1902, the Rev. J. C. Koerner officiating. He was a member of St. Paul's Church. Mrs. Goede died Aug. 13, 1963. An Ossit Church Furniture Co. employee for 30 years, he retired in 1954. Surviving are a son; six daughters; 28 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. Two brothers and five sisters predeceased him.
