On 6/8/1864 he transferred into "L" Co. PA 54th Infantry (date and method of discharge not given)
On November 6, 1870, Jacob Bay was murdered by a colored man named Lloyd Brittian. On February 9, 1871, the Governor of Pennsylvania issued a death warrant for Lloyd Brittian. He was later executed for the crime on March 22, 1871 at the county jail in Lycoming County. Lloyd Brittian went to the gallows protesting his innocence.
