Rhea H. Blount, 90, died on Sunday, January 20, 2013, at Green Acres Nursing Home in Huntsville, Texas.

Mr. Blount was born in San Marcos, Texas on November 8, 1922, to Robert O. and Lillia (Burns) Blount.

He joined the Navy shortly after his brother, Boney Blount, was killed on the Battleship Arizona on December 7, 1941. Rhea served in the medical division for both the Navy and the Marines. After retirement from the Navy, he worked for the Texas Department of Corrections as a Physician's Assistant from 1963 until his retirement in 1983. He loved fishing and hunting and was an expert bow hunter.

Rhea was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, and his son, Robert Alexander Blount.

He is survived by his daughter, Linda Rhea Stanton; three grandsons, Robert Alexander Blount, Jr., Richard Adam Blount, and Skyler Francis Stanton; two granddaughters, Alexa Rhea Blount and Brooke Nicole Stanton; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 23, 2013, from 3-5 p.m. at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 Normal Park in Huntsville, Texas. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 24, 2013, 11:00 a.m., at Evergreen Cemetery, Keith, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Evergreen Cemetery, 14306 FM 244, Iola, Texas 77861.
