KERRVILLE - Jewell Fisher, 95, of Kerrville, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2006, at a local care facility.
Mrs. Fisher was born December 8, 1910, in Iola, Texas, to Robert and Lilia Burns. At the age of 30, she married John Fisher. Because of her love for children, she was very active in the Girl Scouts, and enjoyed taking the girls on camping trips when she was younger.
She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and made many friends through their organization. Jewell was talented in working with her hands, arts and crafts. She was a hat designer for Neiman Marcus and also loved oil painting. Another one of her hobbies was yard work, growing flowers and gardening.
She had a very special dog who was her companion through all named "Dotsie" the Dachshund.
She is preceded in death by her husband John Fisher; sisters, Oma Embrey and Velma Goener; brothers, Talmage Blount, Oley Blount, and Wayman Bony Blount.
She is survived by her son, Ira Foster Fisher of San Antonio; brother, Rhea Blount and wife Maudine of Willis, TX; nieces, Rita Connaughton and husband Jack of Richmond, TX; Winita Goener of Bryan, TX; nephews, Robert "Bob" Embrey of Kerrville, and Gary Embrey of Southerland Springs, TX; numerous other relatives; and special 5-year-old friend, Kayla Lira of Kerrville. She made many close friends who were dear to her, including, Becky Ross, Betty Brandon, Clarabelle Snodgrass, Yuba Cole and many others.
Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, August 3, 2006, at Garden of Memories Cemetery. Open visitation will be Wednesday, August 2, 2006. until 8 p.m.
Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Kerrville Funeral Home.
