STAGG
Miss Nannie Stagg, one of the best loved and most revered of the older women in the community, passed away Monday morning about 3 o'clock at her home in this city. A week before she was stricken with paralysis while assisting at a Christmas fair for the church, and shortly after she was taken home a second stroke rendered her unconscious until the end. Miss Stagg came from an honored pioneer family, being the daughter of the late James H. Stagg and Matilda Thomas Stagg prominent citizens here during their lives. She was a woman of high intelligence and fine Christian character and possessed remarkable executive ability. Combined with these traits was an unselfish devotion to whatever duty came to her, a loyalty to family and friends, a gentle goodness and an interesting personality that made her an outstanding woman of the community. She was a devout church member, active in all the affairs of the women of the congregation in spite of the handicap of ill health for a number of years. She was popular as librarian of the Harrodsburg Library until forced to resign because of a physical breakdown. Her passing has taken a saintly woman from earth and left many to cherish a beautiful memory of her even as they sorrow.
The funeral was held at 2:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at her home on North Main street, with a simple and beautiful service by her pastor, the Rev. T. Hassell Bowen, of the Christian church. The burial was in the family lot in Spring Hill Cemetery. Surviving are the following sisters and a brother: Mrs. George Bonta, of Wilmington, O.; Mrs. Lawrence Meisburg, Mrs. Sallie Morgan, Miss Carrie Stagg, Mrs. A. E. Williams, of Harrodsburg; Mrs. Emma Stagg Woods and Mrs. W. S. Austin, of Richmond, Va.; Mr. James Stagg, of Danville, and also a large number of nieces and nephews.
Miss Stagg was treasurer of the Harrodsburg Christian church for a long period of years. Her pallbearers were Elders in the church, Messrs. B. F. Norfleet, F. P. James, J. H. VanDiver, George Johnson, J. H. Morgan and the Rev. A. A. Brown.
