Esther S. Jones passed away on Monday, May 23, 2022, at Jefferson Bucks Hospital in Langhorne, PA, with her family by her side. She was just two weeks shy of her 95th birthday.
Born in Chester Springs, PA, Esther resided in Levittown, PA for 13 years, then Bartonsville and Lansdale, PA, before moving back to Levittown in 1983.
Esther was a member of Faith Reformed Church in Levittown for over 30 years and was involved with many activities there, one of which was a knitting group that made hats for a charity organization. She helped in the office at the church, and in the kitchen for events.
She had been a member of the Red Hat Society some time ago, and was in a quilting group called Mothers and Others, which met in Bristol, PA for many years. Another group of friends would meet for lunch once a month.
Esther was very active and enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, especially the kids. She loved babies so much, she took a job with a daycare center in her early 80's.
She also loved Florida, and walking the beaches there, collecting seashells. At home, when she wasn't reading, (or watching Jeopardy or Wheel of Fortune,) Esther could often be found outside gardening, or assembling flower arrangements.
Esther was very close with her daughter Barbara, who became her main caregiver in her final months. They enjoyed shopping and going out to lunch, and spent many weekends scouring flea markets and yard sales together.
Beloved wife of 54 years to the late William F. Jones (2000) Esther was the devoted and loving mother of Donald Jones and his wife, Bonnie, of Pocono Summit, PA, and Barbara Cloud and her husband, Dennis, of Levittown. "Gram," as she affectionately became known on Barb's side, was the loving grandmother of Jason Cloud; Christopher Cloud and his wife, Kelly; Jennifer Cloud; Scott Jones and his wife, Carlea; Shaun Jones; and Aimee Chapman and her husband, Ed. Grammy was so proud of her great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and her husband John, Ian, Colin, Dylan, Ashley, Kaylee, Kamryn, Delilah and Jayden.
Esther is also survived by her sister, Ruth Guider, of Perkasie, PA, her sister-in-law, Eleanor Defrancisco, of Trenton, NJ, several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and will be sadly missed by many friends and neighbors.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
