Mary F. Gersbacher, 82, passed away peacefully at Crouse Hospital on May 20. She was born and lived most of her life in Syracuse, except for the time she spent training and teaching in the Albany area. She graduated from St. Anthony of Padua School, class of 1957, the College of St. Rose, Albany and obtained her Master's Degree from SUNY Cortalnd. She was a teacher for 34 years, with the last 26 in the Syracuse City School District. Mary loved sharing her travels with her students and preparing them for life in the world. She was always surrounded by the love of God, her family, and friends and knew they were her greatest blessings. Mary was very spiritual and had a deep respect for the Sisters of St. Joseph, some of whom remained life long friends.
She was pre-deceased by her parents: Frederick and Frances Gersbacher, a sister Ann and brother Daniel (Carole) Gersbacher, and a nephew Stephen.
She is survived by 2 brothers: Lawrence (Judith) and John (Ginger) Gersbacher; nieces and nephews: David, Kris, and Mark Gersbacher, Susan Kanavy, Mary Jo Beamish, Kym & Kelly Gersbacher, Heather Hazlett; and several great nieces & nephews.
The funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, May 25 at 10:30am in Blessed Sacrament Church with burial to follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
