obituary from Cape Gazette: Joseph Carl Phillips, 87, died at home in Rock Island, Tenn., Thursday, May 19, 2022, of natural causes with loved ones by his side. Joseph was born June 18, 1934, to Carl and Margaret Phillips in Sussex County.

Joseph was a 1952 graduate of Rehoboth High School. He had proudly served in the U.S. Air Force, and had volunteered in the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary while living in Lancaster, Pa., Greeneville, Tenn., Milton, and Mt. Juliet, Tenn. He retired from truck driving with Yellow Freight in 1999.
He was a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Volunteering and helping people was something he truly loved to do.

Joseph is survived by his wife, Patricia Phillips; his daughters, Sherri Taylor (David), Debbie Alvarez, Patsy Roock (Carl) and Stacy Collins (Nick); and stepdaughter, Karen Baker (William). He is survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and extended family. He is also survived by his siblings, Eleanor Cordrey (Robert) and Lewis Phillips (Bette).

He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Margaret Phillips; his sister, Virginia Cottingham; his brother, James Phillips; his son Scott Phillips; his wife, Catherine Phillips; and his stepson, Ronald Skulley.

He had chosen cremation with no funeral
