David Reco Bishop, age 94, of North Locust Street, Springfield, KY passed away at 7:50 a.m., Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at his home. A native of Washington County, he was born on October 27, 1927 to the late Hubert and Mattie Young Bishop. He was a member of the St. Dominic Catholic Church, a veteran of the Army Air Force of World War II and a retired employee of Armour Food Company. Preceding him in death was his wife, Mary Lucille Hill Bishop on February 20, 2021; a sister, Mary Ada Russell on February 8, 1985 and four brothers, Leroy Bishop on January 7, 1944, Marshall Bishop on November 30, 1996, Hubert H. "Jack" Bishop on June 19, 2013 and Elbert Bishop on February 4, 2014. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Mary Lou and Fred Corman of Lexington and three brothers, Tex Bishop (Carolyn), Gerald Bishop (Linda) and Thomas Bishop (Linda) all of Springfield. A joint funeral mass celebrating his life and the life of his wife, Lucille will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 25th at the St. Dominic Catholic Church with Rev. Culpepper Elliott and Rev. David Ferrell as concelebrants. Burial will be in the St. Rose Cemetery where military rites will be conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Kenny Blandford, Billy Nally, Sandra Walls, Charles Thompson, David Hill Thompson, Danny Bishop, Larry Bishop, Terry Bishop, Sharon Shuler, Marilyn Durham, Laura Lanham, Jennifer Mann, Gail Cambron, Shelly Thacker, Mary Biggers, Donna Kelly, Rhonda Riney, Shannon Tackett and Shawn Thompson. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the St. Dominic Bereavement Committee. Visitation will be after 8:00 Wednesday morning at the St. Dominic Catholic Church.
