Michael Ray Carney, of Kechi, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, December 19, 2021 at the age of 70. Mike was born on April 22, 1951 in Waukegan, Illinois to Eugene and Letty (Church) Carney. Mike had two father figures in his life; his father, Eugene, who passed when Mike was 11 years old and his uncle, Joe.
Not long after high school, he moved to Kechi, Kansas where he met and married Connie Thomison. They married on February 17, 1973 at the Church of the Resurrection in Bel Air, Kansas. They enjoyed starting a family and raising their three children together. Mike was a true horesman. He was well respected in the horse industry for having an eye for a horse like no other. He passed his horsemanship skills down to his kids, and his legacy is living on in his grandkids as well. He loved watching his kids and grandkids grow up roping, wrestling and playing basketball. He enjoyed fishing and taught his grandkids how to fish. Mike will be truly missed by all of those who knew him.
