Not long after high school, he moved to Kechi, Kansas where he met and married Connie Thomison. They married on February 17, 1973 at the Church of the Resurrection in Bel Air, Kansas. They enjoyed starting a family and raising their three children together. Mike was a true horesman. He was well respected in the horse industry for having an eye for a horse like no other. He passed his horsemanship skills down to his kids, and his legacy is living on in his grandkids as well. He loved watching his kids and grandkids grow up roping, wrestling and playing basketball. He enjoyed fishing and taught his grandkids how to fish. Mike will be truly missed by all of those who knew him.
Mike is survived by his children, Tooter (Missy) Carney, Robin (Aaron) Hall, and Mary (Danny) Williams; grandchildren, Riggin Carney, Tagen Carney, Tripp Carney, Hailey Hall, Harlie Williams, Brantley Williams, and Bennet Williams; siblings, Ron (Mary) Carney, Allan (Jackie) Carney, Fred (Vickie) Carney, and Patrick (Stacey) Carney; former spouse and caretaker, Connie Carney; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Letty Carney; uncles, Joe Carney and Robert Carney; and nephew, Jimmy Carney.
Memorial donations in Mike's name can be directed to Good Shepherd Hospice.
A funeral service will be held at 11am on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at Carlson Colonial Funeral Home, with a visitation one-hour prior. Interment will follow at Benton Cemetery.
