John W. Burden Succumbs; Rites Wednesday at 2

Funeral services for John William Burden, 76, 1518 Sherman St. are to be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Old Liberty Church in Lawrence County.

Mr. Burden, a native of Lawrence County, died this morning at 6:20 at Decatur General Hospital. He had been ill for a week.

The Revs. Paul and Silas Lang will conduct the service with interment in the adjoining cemetery to be directed by Brown Funeral Co. Body is to be returned to the residence this afternoon.

His survivors include six daughters; Mrs. B.H. Green, Wheeler, Mrs. Hardy B. Terry, Courtland, Mrs. Brownlee Terry, Lowden (Loudon), Tenn., Mrs. Allen Ray, Chicago, Mrs. Melvin Hutto, Hillsboro, Mrs. Rufus Wallace, Mt. Hope; one son, Guy Burden, Decatur; two sisters, Mrs. Mattie Lovett, Lewisburg, Tenn., Mrs. Frank Hagood, Hatton; four brothers, Steve Burden, Cash, Ark., Arthur Burden, Decatur, David Burden, Atlanta, Marvin Burden, Chicago; 31 grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.
