Charles Ernest Chaltron, 78, passed away surrounded by his immediate family on October 07, 2021 in Troy Beaumont Hospital, MI

His wisdom, guidance, humor, and smile will be dearly missed by all, including his wife of 59 years, Carol (Manley) Chaltron, his three children, Christopher C. Chaltron, Bonnie S. Chaltron and Scott C. Chaltron, four grandchildren Kelly Jo Machiniak, Thomas Chaltron, Leanne Machiniak, Timothy Chaltron and 4 great grandchildren, Bekka, Talia, Vanessa and Kai.

Charles was born on August 23, 1943 in Ferndale, Michigan to the late Ernest Charles Chaltron and Edna (Henning) Chaltron. He is also predeceased by his sisters Karen (Chaltron) Chism and Delores Chaltron, and brothers Ernest John Chaltron and Warren Frank Chaltron.

Charles (Chuck) grew up in Royal Oak, Michigan. As a youngster he participated in the local Boys Club, and played baseball, climbed trees, and hung out in the short-lived, and super-secret, underground tunnels of Dondero park.

As a teen, Chuck proudly cruised Woodward in his 42 Ford and later in his 58 Chevy. Chuck was a big fan of the yearly Dream Cruise.

Chuck worked for General Motors for 38 years in Quality Control. He worked in Pol Town in Detroit in the building that became American Gear and Axle. Shortly before his retirement, Chuck also worked at the parts plant in Pontiac, MI.

Chuck was an avid photographer and loved to travel the great state of Michigan with Mackinaw City being one of his favorite destinations. Chuck had a lifelong fascination with the majesty of the Mighty Mac. He and his wife Carol participated in the yearly Labor Day bridge walk. Concerning the bridge, Chuck would often proclaim that he has visited the bridge in nearly every way possible…boating under it, flying over it, walking it, and many many trips driving across the bridge. Some day in the future, Chucks children will scatter his ashes under the arches of the Mighty Mac where he can forever watch over the straits and his favorite bridge. N 45 48' 54" W 84 43' 42"
