Alvin Gross, age 89, passed away on May 4, 2022. Alvin was born in Gallatin County, Kentucky on October 16, 1932, to Riley Gross and Lacie Mae Davis. Alvin was born on a farm and spent his early years working on the farm with his family. He graduated High School in 1950 from Gallatin High School in Warsaw, KY. After graduating, he continued working on the farm and doing odd jobs until 1954, when he was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He served for 2 years and after his discharge he joined the reserves at Ft. Sill and worked in Civil Service until his retirement.
In 1956, Alvin would meet Joyce Lavelle, and in 1957, the two were married at the First Baptist Church in Anadarko, OK. During this time, Alvin also worked as a licensed real estate agent and owned rent houses. Alvin spent part of his time in his home town of Glencoe and part of his time in Oklahoma with his family.
Alvin loved his family and was a faithful, committed Christian. He enjoyed hunting and raised his own rabbit and coon hunting dogs. He also enjoyed country music and bluegrass.
Alvin was preceded in death by his wife Joyce; parents Riley and Lacie Mae; brothers Fred, Paul, and Vernon; sister Virgie; and great granddaughter Raven Caldwell.
