Pet Deer Belonging to Junius Hacking Dies.
Saturday evening the pet deer captured last June by Junius Hacking, 12 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph P. Hacking, in the flood waters of Ashley Creek when only a few days old, died. The deer, which was a great pet was sick only two days. Some time ago it received an injury to its back, but how was not known.
When D. H. Madsen, state fish and game commisioner, was here last March he told the boy he could take care of the deer as long as he wished. Nearly every child in the Ashley Valley has made a trip to the Hacking home to see the pet deer.
Young Hacking was grieved greatly by the loss of his pet, which he risked his life to save, and gave it a real burial Sunday. He made a large box for the body entirely buried it at the farm. The deer was shedding or Junius _______ would have had the animal _________.
