Funeral services honoring Rulon (Rute) Stringham Hacking, 71, were held Monday in the Maeser First Ward Chapel. Bishop Floyd Bodily officiated.
Prayer at the mortuary was given by Grant Hacking. Ruth Jones played the prelude and postlude music. The opening song, "Home On the Range," was sung by Daun White and Dorothy Peltier, accompanied by Tex Ross.
Invocation was pronounced by Leo D. Hacking. Wayne Bullock gave the obituary and read an original poem, "What Is a Man." The first speaker, Harold McKee, told of Mr. Hacking's early life, his talents stated that he was always straight forward and honest. Ralph Siddoway related that Mr. Hacking loved the outdoor life, especially the fall season. He also stated that the Hackings were married one day less than 51 years.
Wayne Hall, presented a muscial, "Daddy, Dear Old Daddy," accompanied himself on the guitar. The closing song, "Beyond the Sunset," was sung by Mrs. Peltier and Mrs. White, accompanied by Mr. Ross. Benediction was given by Joseph Calder. The grave was dedicated by Ferron Hacking.
Pallbearers were grandsons, Mitch Hacking, Gerry and Randy Wiley, nephews Roger Hacking, Tedd Corless and Edwin Hacking. Honorary pallbearers were member so the Uintah County Search and Rescue Patrol and members of the Lions Club, both of which Mr. Hacking was a charter member.
Burial was in the Vernal Memorial Park, under the direction of Thomson's Vernal Mortuary.

He married Vera Elizabeth Corless November 14, 1924 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
