According to the 1860 census, Martha Ann (Hughes/Wheeler) Campbell was born about 1812 in TN. She is reported to be the step daughter of William Wheeler of Hamilton/White county IL through his marriage to Elizabeth Hughes.

When she married John Campbell on 21 Dec 1828, she is shown as Martha Wheeler, daughter of William Wheeler. She was the mother of 15 children including my direct line ancestor William Hume/Hughes Campbell.

She is believed to be buried in Concord Cemetery beside her husband, John, who had died 5 years earlier but there is no stone or marker for her grave. There was much turmoil and confusion in the family after the death of John and when Martha passed it appears that no one took the steps necessary to create a marker for her.
