He was born Oct. 5, 1951, in Springfield, the son of Harry E. Sr. and Norma Jean Timm Beams. He was preceded in death by his mother on July 25, 1989.
Mr. Beams worked for Illinois Bell Telephone Co. for 10 years. While pursuing his master's degree, he assisted with computer classes at Lincoln Land Community College. He was a graduate of Southeast High School in 1969, LLCC and the University of Illinois at Springfield in 2001, where he received a bachelor's degree in history. He was an avid scholar. He was a very intelligent man and loved to share his knowledge. He enjoyed widening his knowledge by attending lectures and reading books in all subjects.
Surviving are his father, Harry E. Beams Sr.; sister, Pamela Fuller of Marietta, Ga.; three brothers, David M. Beams of White House, Texas, Dr. Mark A. Beams and Bryan K. Beams, both of Kalamazoo, Mich.; two aunts; two uncles; four nieces; two nephews; and several cousins.
Services at Staab Funeral Home, with Pastor Kreston Lipscomb officiating. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery.
