OBITUARY OF MRS NEWTON

Lydia Ellen Jones was born in Porter county Indiana June 10 1844 and passed away at Madrid Nebr on March 7 1929 age 84 years 8 months and 27 days.

She was married to Ephraim Loux in Indiana. To this union was born one son C E Loux who is now living at Pocatello Idaho. Mr Loux being killed in the Civil war she was later married to Jerryy M Brown of Vulpariso Ind. To this marriage five children were born only two of which survive to mourn her departure J H Brown of Wenatchee Wash and R V Brown of Bridgeport Nebr. Mr and Mrs Brown came to Nebraska in 1879 where Mr Brown passed away in 1899. She was married to E P Newton June 10 1902. Mr Newton passed away June 23 1927 and since that time she has made her home with her stepson C O Newton near Ogallala Nebr.

Mrs Newton was a member of the Christian church until 1927 when she united with the Congregational church at Brule Nebr where she was a regular attendant at church and Sunday school until October 1928 when ill health confined her to her bed. She became very much attached to her pastor Rev Nyrop and her request was that he attend her in death.

She leaves to mourn her departure three sons, fourteen grand children, one stepson, and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Methodist church of Madrid and interment was made in the Fairview cemetery at Grant.
