Leroy Williams, Sr.
August 19, 1951 - April 20, 2022

There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under the Heaven" Ecclesiastes 3
A Time to Be Born
Leroy was born August 19, 1951, to the late Arvelton Williams and Mrs. Ossie Mae Miller in Rondo
(Philips County) Arkansas.
A Time to be Saved
Leroy dedicated his life to the Lord and professed his word as a living testament bearing the fruits of the
Holy Spirit through his good works and deeds. He joined Shiloh Baptist Church in 1993 and served as an
Usher and a Deacon
A Time to Die
Leroy met an untimely passing after a brief illness with lung cancer. He peacefully transitioned on
Wednesday, April 20, 2022, in the comfort of his home.
A Time to Be Loved
Leroy met the love of his life, Berida, at the tender age of 10 in West Helena, Arkansas. They celebrated
52 years of marriage, devotion, love, and enough memories to last several lifetimes. They were
affectionately called Wet and Water – because you can't take the wet from water.
Leroy unquestionably loved his family and doted on them tirelessly with love, joy, peace, patience,
kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23) all of his days.
He was proceeded in death in death by his grandmother Ms. Ora Johnson and his first granddaughter
Janai Lavette Mitchell
A Time to Plant, Root, and Achieve
Leroy relocated from West Helena, Arkansas to Waukegan, Illinois in September 1969.
He retired at the age of 49 from Johnson Motors after 30 years of service.
Leroy went on to work for the College of Lake County for 13 years and retired a second time.
Of the many outstanding accomplishments, Leroy's dream was fulfilled by becoming an ordained
Deacon at Shiloh Baptist Church in October 2019.
A Time of Remembrance
Leroy will be remembered for his generous loving heart and compassionate giving of his self and time to
his family and friends. Always optimistic and encouraging with a contagious laugh. He was a naturalborn teacher in explaining life lessons and wisdom.
A Time to Be Mourned
He leaves to cherish his legacy His devoted wife Berida, three children Janice (Reggie) Mitchell, Leroy
Williams, Jr., Sharon (Danny) Butler, 13 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, special niece L.atunda
Turner, God-son Eric Glover, and a host of brothers, sisters, cousins, nephews and nieces. Along with a
