Hugh Alexander Dies At Warren
Former Trustee Of Jackson Township Passes Away Early Today

Hugh Alexander, 86, former Wells County resident, died at 1:15 o'clock this morning at his home in Warren. He had been an invalid for eight years, complications having developed form an illness that began with rheumatism.

During his long period of invalidism, Mr. Alexander had received the loving care of his aged wife, now in her 83rd year. She was assisted by her children, but she insisted on giving direct personal attention to her beloved husband.

Born in Brown County, Ohio, on November 10, 1839, Mr. Alexander was a son of John and Rhoda Thornhill Alexander and at his death was aged 86 years, 4 months, and 29 days. He was only two years old when his parents came from Ohio, and settled in Jackson township, this county, and he was a continuous resident of that township until eighteen years ago, when he retired from active labors and purchased a home in Warren, where he and his wife have resided since.

Mr. Alexander was always prominent in the affairs of his home community, and he served two terms as trustee of Jackson township. He had been identified with public affairs both of his home township and the county and with his home town of Warren.

His marriage to Miss Charity Clampitt took place November 21, 1861, and she survives, with four children, namely: Mrs. Morgan McClure, of Warren; Virgil Alexander, of Roll; Mrs. Charles Fryer, of Warren, and Frank Alexander of Warren.

He was a member of the Warren M. E. church.

The funeral services will be held at the Warren M. E. church at 1:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon in charge of the Rev. A. C. Wischmeier, assisted by Rev. C. D. Crabill.
