"Jimmy "Scout" Blankenship,78, of Bluefield, WV, passed away Saturday, August 28, 2021 at Princeton Community Hospital in Princeton. Born January 10, 1943 in Welch, he was the son of the late William Henry Blankenship and Rinda Jane Milam Blankenship.
"Jimmy was a former coal miner. He was of the Pentecostal Faith and he was a member of the Calvary Tabernacle Church in Princeton. Jimmy loved to play the guitar and sing in church. He also loved to fish and loved his family.
"In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Debra Kay Blankenship Powell; six brothers, Cecil, Eddie, William Henry Jr., Elmer, Buddy and Johnny Blankenship; and one sister, Stella Blankenship Akers.
"Those left to cherish his memories are his loving and devoted wife of 57 years, Reverend Brenda Blankenship; two sons, Joey Blankenship and wife Kim of Bluefield, Jeff Blankenship and wife Missy of Princeton; two brothers, Teddy Blankenship and wife Marie of Owensville, KY, David Blankenship and wife Chris of Plant City, FL; two sisters, Thelma Surratt of Lakeland, FL, Shelby Haskell and husband Darell of Flint, MI; six grandchildren, Jeffrey Powell and wife Amber of Premier, Brad Blankenship and wife Kristin, Brittany, Christopher, Sara, and Aaron Blankenship; five great grandchildren, Faith, Kimberlyn, Averlee, Jayden and D.J.
"Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at 1:00 PM from the Ark of Safety Church in Roderfield with Reverend Martin West officiating. Burial will follow in the Addison Christian Cemetery in Roderfield.
"Friends may call at the church Monday evening after 6 PM. Social distancing and the use of mask are recommended.
"Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Powell, Bradley, Aaron and Jeff Blankenship, Jerry Dean Justice, and Doug Potter.
