Agnes Van Bemmel was born on May 2, 1920, the daughter of Fred and Wilhelmina (Augustinus) Van Bemmel, in Brookings County, SD. She married Eldon 'Bud' Bleeker on June 30, 1941. They farmed in Hamlin County around the Castlewood, until they had a sale and moved to California, where they lived for 31 years. They moved back to South Dakota and settled southwest of Estelline on an acreage with their son Leroy. Leroy built a new home in Estelline and Agnes continued to live with Leroy until she moved to the Estelline Nursing and Care Center.

She is survived by her four sons, LeRoy Bleeker, of Estelline, SD, Eldon Bleeker, Jr. of Norco, CA, Larry (Lynette) Bleeker, of LaMarato, CA and Dale Bleeker, of Norco, CA; 11 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; two sisters, Gertrude Folkers, of Inwood, IA and Katherine DeWit, of Sioux Center, IA; one brother, Arthur Van Bemmel, of Spokane, WA, and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eldon, Sr.; one daughter, Ruth Ann; sisters, Freda, Sophie, Lena, Margaret, Jennie and Ida; and her brothers, Adrian, John, William, Cornie, Ralph and Vern.
